4×800 Relay Teams Highlight Drake Relays For Dordt

Des Moines, Iowa — The Dordt men’s 4×800 relay first place finish highlighted day one competition for the Defenders on Friday at the Drake Relays. The quartet of Trey Engen, Payton Mauldin, Cole Zevenbergen and Matthew Van Eps ran a 7:34.57 and was ten seconds better than the NAIA National Automatic qualifying time.

The Defender women’s day at the Drake Relays was highlighted by the 4×800 team of Jessica Kampman, Bethany Ten Haken, Mika Kooistra and Annika Rick running fourth in 9:18.43 and met the automatic qualifying standard for the NAIA National Meet in the event. Emma Bakker also met the provisional standard in the 400 meters in 57.23 and finished sixth overall in the college division.
