A number of area softball players have been recognized among the states best with the release of the Iowa Softball Coaches Association All State Teams.
In Class 3A Kavri Van Kekerix of Boyden Hull Rock Valley earned a spot on the first team. She was joined by Jersey Hawf of West Lyon. Estherville Lincoln Central is represented by Tatum Dunlavy and Rylee Yager.
Named to the second team were Tori Elgersma of Sheldon along with Rylee Bomgaars of Boyden Hull Rock Valley and Jasey Anderson of Estherville Lincoln Central. Aubrey DeShaw of MOC Floyd Valley earned a spot on the third team.
In Class 1A Mya Bunkers of Remsen St Mary’s was named to the first team. Team mate Marina Cronin earned a spot on the second team. A third Hawk Halle Gilles was named to the third team.
In Class 4A Olivia Huckfelt of Spencer earned a spot on the first team. Margo Schuiteman was named to the second team.
Those were the players from the Siouxland, War Eagle and Lakes Conferences to earn All State Honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Michael DeJager of Trinity Christian and Teresa Magnussen of LeMars were nominated for Assistant Coach of the Year. The honor went to Jean Birchmier of Collins Maxwell High School.
