BHRV Is Dome Bound After Win Against SBL

Rock Valley, Iowa — Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley is Dome bound again after a stingy defense held Sergeant-Bluff Luton to 70 yards of offense en route to a 50-14 quarterfinal win.

BHRV got on the board after their first drive. To open the game, Zach Strubbe returned the opening kick off to the Warrior 34 yard line. The Nighthawks capitalized on the short field when Tanner Te Slaa found Caleb Kats for the 5 yard score to make it 7-0 early. The second Nighthawk drive would net points. A 60-yard drive was capped off by a Landyn Van Kekerix 1 yard run to make it 14-0 with 5:29 left in the first quarter. SBL would get on the board late in the first. A Te Slaa pass was intercepted by Noah Keokenchanh and returned to the BHRV 11. A couple plays later Scott Kroll was on the receiving end of a 3 yard pass from Tyler Smith for the score to make it 14-7. As time expired in the first quarter, a screen pass to Lane Schmidt would turn into a 60 yard catch and run to make it 21-7 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Nighthawks would find the endzone again with Van Kekerix on the receiving end of a 17 yard pass on 4th down to make it 27-7. The Warriors would get into the endzone with 2 minutes to go in the half. Following a Smith punt return deep into Nighthawk territory, Smith took a QB keeper 4 yards for the score to make it 27-14.

The first drives of the second half for both teams would each stall. A Te Slaa punt would be downed at the SBL 4 yard line, and later an intentional grounding penalty would net the Nighthawks a safety to make it 29-14, and on the next offensive play by the Nighthawks, Te Slaa found Kats for the 50 yard score to make it 36-14 with 5:44 to go in the 3rd. The Nighthawks would add another score late in the 3rd with a Kats 1 yard keeper, and following a blocked punt in the 4th, Vance Katzfey was on the receiving end of a 14 yard strike from Te Slaa. Your final would be 50-14.
