Bleeker Signs With Dordt Volleyball

Miah Bleeker, a senior at Sioux Center High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.

“Miah has experienced steady and consistent growth through her years of high school volleyball in the setting position. She has a poise and composure that allows her to lead her team with effectiveness and confidence. She will provide competitive depth for us in the setting position. We are grateful for volleyball coach Julie Oldenkamp and basketball coach Doug Winterfeld who have positively influenced Miah’s athletic development. Miah will be a wonderful fit for our campus community as she continues to grow in her relationship with the Lord and live out The Defender Way,” said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Bleeker is a 5-11 setter and she totaled 1,731 career assists for Sioux Center with 246 kills, 153 blocks and 626 digs. She claimed first-team all-conference honors in 2020 and also claimed IGCA All-Region honors along with academic all-conference and all-state accolades. She was a second-team all-conference pick in 2019 and a third-team selection in 2018.

“I chose Dordt university because I love the culture and atmosphere of Dordt volleyball. I believe Dordt will help me grow in my faith and build relationships while also challenging me in the classroom. The Dordt community feels like home to me and I am so excited to be a Defender!” said Bleeker.

Miah is the daughter of Bryan and Becca Bleeker of Sioux Center, Iowa. She plans to study Nursing at Dordt.
