Grant Brouwer, a senior at Sibley Ocheyedan High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball and track and field programs.

Brouwer averaged 17.4 points per game last season while converting 37 percent of his three-point shots and he was a first-team all-conference selection at the conclusion of the season. Brouwer is averaging 18.1 points per game this season with five rebounds and 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He’s scored over 1,000 career points for the Generals. He’s a 6-2 guard.

“We are excited to have Grant joining this 2019 recruiting class as he has tremendous athletic ability that will benefit him out on the court and on the track next year. Grant comes from a wonderful family and program that have prepared him to be a great fit here at Dordt College and excel in all areas of life,” said Dordt College basketball coach Brian Van Haaften

Brouwer was the runner-up in the high jump at the Iowa State High School Track and Field meet in 2018 and was a third place finisher in 2017. His personal best in the high jump is 6-9 and he ran the 400 meters in 52.3. He twice earned top-15 finishes at the state cross country meet.

We are thrilled that Grant has chosen Dordt and that he will participate in track and field,” said Dordt head track and field coach Craig Heynen. “Grant is an incredible athlete, and will bring a variety of options to the table for our team. He is a great high jumper, and his athletic ability will also afford the possibility of the multi event or relays. We are excited to see how he continues to develop.”

Grant is the son of Jerrad and Tracee Brouwer of Sibley, Iowa. He plans to enter the pre-Physical Therapy program.
