Sheldon Iowa — A two out double to the left field corner by Kaden Huisman brought in Luke Rasmussen in the top of the seventh with what turned out to be the winning run. Central Lyon held Sheldon scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 3-2 win.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Jay Waagmeester doubled to open the inning and later scored on an rbi single off the bat of Bryce Vander Weerd. Central Lyon made it 2-0 in the third. Luke Rasmussen was hit by a pitch and eventually scored from third on an rbi single to left field by Zach Springer.
Sheldon tied the game with a two run fourth inning as Brennan Radke led off with a single to left and scored on a single to center by Luke Van Beek. Van Beek scored on a bunt single by Tyler Lode. The 2-2 tie held up until Central Lyon came up with the game winning run in the top of the seventh.
Kaden Huisman got the complete game win giving up 5 hits over 7 innings while striking out 8. He didn’t walk a batter and saw his defense turn two double plays behind him.
Luke Van Beek went the first six and a third for Sheldon. He gave up 2 runs while scattering 6 hits and striking out 10 batters. He walked just 1 batter in the contest. Kordell Kooiker finished up in relief.
With the win Central Lyon improves to 2-6 on the year and 2-4 in the conference. Sheldon is 2-8 for the year and 2-4 in the Siouxland. The Lions travel to Okoboji on Tuesday while the Orabs return to action on Thursday at home against Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
