Comets Overcome Slow Start, Roll To Semifinals

Des Moines, Iowa — #1 Boyden-Hull overcame a slow start in the first quarter to advance to the Thursday morning 2A semifinals with a 74-49 win over 8 seed South Central Calhoun.

Boyden-Hull started slow, finding themselves down nine points, 17-8, but rattled off the next 8 points to pull to within one point at the end of the first quarter, 17-16 in favor of the Titans. The Comet defense held South Central Calhoun to just 9 second quarter points and had a 33-26 lead at intermission. Boyden-Hull pulled away in the third, leading 53-41 after Marcus Kelderman drained a three pointer as time expired. The Comets rolled in the 4th to the 74-49 win.

The Comets were led in scoring by Kelderman with a game high 27 points, and Tanner Te Slaa added another 19 points.

The Titans got a team high 18 points from Corey Cole.

With the win, Boyden-Hull improves to 25-0 and will play Thursday morning at 10:00 am in the Upper Bracket Class 2A semifinal. South Central Calhoun ends their season at 19-6.
