AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State football team (7-5, 5-4 Big 12) will be heading to a bowl game for a school-record fifth-straight season and for the 17th time in school history, accepting an invitation to play in the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
Iowa State will face No. 19 Clemson (9-3, 6-2 ACC) on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 4:45 p.m. CT at Camping World Stadium. ESPN will broadcast the game. This will be the first meeting between the teams.
Iowa State finished in the upper half of the Big 12 standings and had a winning record in conference play for the fifth season in a row.
This will be ISU’s second appearance in the Cheez-It Bowl, formerly the Camping World Bowl (Notre Dame in 2019).
Iowa State has a 5-11 all-time record in bowl games. Sixth-year head coach Matt Campbell, who is a three-time Big 12 Coach of the Year recipient, is the first Cyclone skipper to take five-straight Cyclone teams to a bowl game. Campbell is 2-2 in bowl games at Iowa State.
