Defensive back Tre Bell on his transition to Iowa State

Ames, Iowa (RI) – Iowa State corner Tre Bell had to give up his first love of basketball to see how far he could go in football.

Bell began his college career as a football and basketball player at Lindenwood in St. Louis and transferred to Iowa State adter deciding to concentrate on football. He is vying to become a starting corner for the Cyclones in spring drills.

Bell felt Iowa State was a place he could reach his potential.

Bell admits it was not an easy decision to give up on basketball.

Bell hopes for a similar career track as former Cyclone Darien Porter, who blossomed in his final year.

ISU corner’s coach Hank Poteat likes the progress Bell has been making in practice.

Poteat says Bell has been a great fit for the program.
