Den Herder Signs With Dordt Basketball

Dana Den Herder, a senior at Sioux Center High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

“We are excited to welcome Dana to Dordt. Dana had a fantastic high school career at Sioux Center High School. Dana’s toughness and work ethic on the court will transfer well to the college game. She has a servant’s heart which will make her a great teammate and member of our campus community. We look forward to watching God’s plans unfold for Dana as she progresses through her time at Dordt,” said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.

Den Herder averaged 12.5 points with 3.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game for Sioux Center this season. She was named second-team all-conference in both 2019 and 2020 and was an honorable mention pick in 2018 when Sioux Center was the Class 3A runner-up. She averaged 10.7 points per game as a junior and converted 35 percent of her three-point shots.

“The people I met on my campus visit seemed very genuine and passionate about Dordt. Also, the atmosphere just felt right for me,” said Den Herder.

Dana is the daughter of Gary and Deanne Den Herder of Sioux Center, Iowa. She is undecided on a field of study.
