Dokter To Join Defender Volleyball

Sioux Center, Iowa — Ellie Dokter, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.

“Ellie moved into a new position her senior year and demonstrated great athleticism as a middle blocker. Her adaptability and team-first attitude will be beneficial components to her college success. She will provide some wonderful depth in most any net position, and it will be exciting to see how she will continue to develop in all her skills as she continues playing at the college level. Ellie loves the Lord and seeks to be a wonderful ambassador to represent Him in all that she does. We would like to thank Ellie’s coach Tammi Veerbeek for developing her in so many ways,” said former Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Dokter is 5-10 and has played all three hitter positions during her career. She’s recorded 264 career kills with 104 blocks and helped Western Christian to a state semifinal finish in 2020 and a state champion runner-up finish in 2021. Dokter was a second-team all-conference performer as a senior and also claimed academic all-conference honors. In 2020 she was an honorable mention selection at the conference level. She also competed for the Arena Club volleyball program.

“I decided to attend Dordt because I love the Christian atmosphere and I have heard so many people that love Dordt,” said Dokter.

Ellie is the daughter of Dennis and Joeli Dokter of Sioux Center, Iowa. She is undecided on her intended field of study.
