Dordt and Dakota Wesleyan Split Softball Doubleheader

Dordt College softball moved to three games above .500 in the GPAC season with a 4-0 win in game one of its doubleheader on the road against Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Dordt outhit the Tigers 6-5 with Kacy Obeforell getting the win on the mound while striking out three and walking three. Wesleyan stranded two runners in the first, fourth and sixth innings.

Bethany Dykstra and Megan Huizenga accounted for four of Dordt’s six hits with Huizenga’s homerun accounting for the lone extra base hit of the game.

Dakota Wesleyan forged a split with Dordt College in game two of their doubleheader in Mitchell, South Dakota, taking a 3-1 winner over the visitors.

Sidney Larsen took the loss while going the complete game, allowing one earned run and had two strikeouts and two walks.

Ashton Beaird and Paige Fynaardt each had two hits with Fynaardt and Haley Huisman each batting doubles.

Dordt is now 10-8 in the league and 20-20 overall. Wesleyan is 17-24 overall and 10-6 in the conference. Dordt is scheduled to face Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, April 28 in the regular season finale for the Defenders.
