Dordt And NWC Women’s Golf Compete In Round Three Of GPAC Championship

Council Bluffs, Iowa — The Northwestern College women’s golf team is in seventh place and Defenders are in 10th place after the third round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship played Friday at the Bent Tree Golf Course in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Northwestern’s squad shot their best team score through the three rounds of the championship, carding a 353, eighth best today among the 12 teams competing. They dropped two spots in the team standings and now sit in seventh place with a 54-hole total of 1,089, six strokes in back of sixth place College of Saint Mary.

The Dordt Defender women’s golf team shot a 381 and are one stroke in front of Hastings and trail Doane in ninth place by 24 strokes

Morningside continues to be the leader and by a great margin, coming in with a 54-hole score of 934. Morningside’s Sam Knight leads the 46 golfer field with a 228 and the Mustangs are 117 strokes in front of Jamestown in second place.

Kate Wynja shot the low round for the Raiders, carding an 84 today, and sits just outside the top 10 after 54 holes. The junior has a three-round score of 257, three strokes in back of the 10th place golfer (Izzy Marchino-Jamestown).

Hayley Carlson carded an 85 today and is in 16th place, one spot out of the top 15 with 18 holes left to play, with a 54-hole score of 265. She trails two golfers, Kathryn Finke and Frankie Valencia, who are tied for 14th place.

Maddie Schrack is tied for 18th place as the freshman shot a 91 today and 54-hole total of 272. Morgan Roberts is 38th overall with a 295, shooting a 93 in today’s third round. Taylor Van Ostrand, who did not play in the first two rounds, rounds out the Northwestern golfers with a 93 today.

Sam Knight is the third-round leader with a 228 (+10), three strokes in front of teammate Maria Zorilla (231).

Rachel Bostwick and Rylie Brown each shot 93 while Tess Hemmila and Gianna Van Klaveren were at 97 and 98 respectively. Bailey Weg shot a 99 but her score wasn’t used for the team scoring.

Bostwick is currently in 31st place with a 286 through three rounds and Hemmila has a 289 and is in 32nd. Brown’s 292 is good for a tie for 33rd place.
