Dordt Baseball Travels Friday, Hosts Senior Day Saturday

Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defender baseball team will be playing a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, April 16 and 17 against Briar Cliff on Friday and Hastings on Saturday. The Friday baseball games will start at 4:00 pm and the Saturday contests will begin at 1:00.

Briar Cliff enters play on Friday with a 23-12 record and a 7-9 GPAC mark after going 1-3 against Concordia last weekend.

The Chargers are led by Jared Sitzmann’s 37 hits and he has 24 runs batted in with a .359 batting average. Jake Federico is batting .313 with 36 hits and has seven doubles. Jake Allen has 25 hits and is batting .301 and shares team honors with seven homeruns. Harrison Jestel has seven homeruns as well with 25 runs batted in

Hastings is 9-20 overall and 7-9 in the GPAC after going 3-1 last weekend against Morningside.

Camden Brichacek is batting .378 with 34 hits and Julio Sanchez is batting .321 with 26 hits. Tino Zach and Ryder Ghidotti have 33 and 28 hits each and are batting .314 and .292. The Broncos have eight different players with one homerun each.

Dordt is 11-23 this season with a 4-12 GPAC mark after a 1-3 weekend against Northwestern last weekend.

Logan Cline is batting .442 with 53 hits and has five homeruns with 26 runs batted in and 24 stolen bases. John Emerson is batting .412 with 10 doubles and Chase Edwards is batting .345 with eight doubles and four homeruns and a team high 41 runs batted in.

Gyengju Kim is 4-3 with a 3.49 earned run average and 73 strikeouts in 49 innings. Nick Yeager is 3-3 with 28 strikeouts in 10 relief appearances and Luke Turner has pitched 37 innings and has 39 strikeouts.

Dordt is scheduled to go to Mount Marty on April 23 and 24 in Yankton, South Dakota for four GPAC games.
