Dordt Men Down oak Hills Christian 120-59

The Dordt Defender basketball team erupted for 120 points while converting 65 percent of its field goals in a one-sided win over Oak Hills Christian on Friday night in Sioux Center. It marked day one of the Dordt Classic.

The visitors from Bemidji, Minnesota converted five early three-point shots and led 19-14 with 14:16 left in the first half. A Bryce Coppock lay up for Dordt started an eventual 12-0 run with Jacob Vis converting a shot for a 26-19 lead with 9:25 left in the half. It was still a nine-point game with 4:07 left in the half when Dordt went on a 15-2 run to end the half and Caleb Harmsen’s three-pointer just before the buzzer put Dordt up 52-31.

The lead quickly grew to 30 and Dordt was never challenged in the second half, outscoring the Wolfpack 68-28 for Dordt’s eighth win in 11 starts.

THE NUMBERS
All 17 players in uniform for Dordt scored and all played at least four minutes and none more than 18.

Dordt converted 49-75 field goals for 65 percent success and Dordt was 13-24 from the three-point line and 9-11 from the free throw line.

Bryce Coppock scored 17 with four rebounds.

Jacob Vis had 16 points and four rebounds and Trey Hinote scored a career high 13 points on 4-4 field goal shooting and 2-2 free throw shooting.

Cade Bleeker added nine along with Caleb Harmsen while Jackson Louscher had eight.

Luke Rankin had five points, five rebounds, four steals and 10 assists and Matt Haken had eight points and six rebounds.

Dordt will face Peru State on Saturday at 2:00 after Peru State beat Northwestern 83-70 on Friday at the Defender Thanksgiving Classic.
