Dordt Men Have Non-Conference Test Tonight

Dordt will travel to Madison, South Dakota for a non-conference men’s basketball game against Dakota State on Monday, January 4 at 7:00 pm.

Dakota State is 2-6 this season and 1-0 in the North Star Athletic Association with a win over Bellevue to its credit. The Trojans have lost three close games in a row to Briar Cliff (79-75), Dakota Wesleyan (69-60)and Peru State (67-65). The wins for Dakota State are victories over Bellevue and Oak Hills Christian.

The Trojans are averaging 65.3 points per game and allow 68.1. The Trojans are also getting outrebounded 35.1-34.3 and convert 43.2 percent of their field goals while giving up 44.7 percent shooting.

The Defender men are 11-4 overall and 7-4 in the GPAC and takes a four-game winning streak into the game against Dakota State. Dordt won five of its last six and six of its last eight.

Dordt converts 50.5 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 82.6-75.0 and outrebound teams 38.5-33.9. Opponents make 43.3 percent of their field goals and the Defenders have converted 113 three-point shots.

Garrett Franken scores 15.7 points per game with 7.7 rebounds and he hands out 2.5 assists per game while making 50 percent of his field goals. Jesse Jansma scores 15.7 points per game with a team high 4.0 assists per game and he is making 48 percent of his field goals. Jacob Vis is scoring 12.0 points per game with 6.5 rebounds and he is making 67.3 percent of his field goal tries and has a team high 16 blocked shots. Cade Bleeker adds 11.5 points per game and Bryce Coppock is averaging 8.0. Dejay Fykstra is converting 5.7 points per game and he make 76 percent of his field goals while Ben Gesink is averaging 5.6 points per game. Jansma has made 26 three-point shots while Bleeker and Coppock have 24 and 22 respectively.

Dordt will host Mount Marty on Saturday, January 9 in a women’s and men’s basketball doubleheader starting at 2:00.
