Dordt Men Look To Bounce Back Against Doane

Dordt will travel to Doane on Saturday, January 23 at 4:00 pm.

Doane is 5-15 this season and 2-13 in the league with conference wins over Midland and Hastings. Doane has lost eight games in a row dating back to December 12. The losing streak includes a seven points loss to Dakota Wesleyan and a two point loss to Northwestern.

The Tigers are getting outscored 79.6-71.6 and outrebounded 39.1-30.1. The Tigers have allowed 49 percent field goal shooting by opponents and 38 percent three-point shooting.

The Defender men are 15-5 overall and 10-5 in the GPAC and had an eight game winning streak stopped in a loss to Morningside.

Dordt converts 51 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 84.3-75.8 and outrebound teams 37-33.5. Opponents make 44.2 percent of their field goals and the Defenders have converted 174 three-point shots with 36 percent success.

Garrett Franken scores 16.2 points per game with 7.5 rebounds and he hands out 2.8 assists per game while making 50 percent of his field goals. Jesse Jansma scores 15.3 points per game with a team high 4.0 assists per game and he is making 46 percent of his field goals. Jacob Vis is scoring 12.3 points per game with 6.0 rebounds and he is making 66 percent of his field goal tries and has a team high 22 blocked shots. Cade Bleeker adds 11.3 points per game and Bryce Coppock is averaging 8.8. Ben Gesink’s average is 6.4 and he gets 3.6 rebounds and he is making 34 percent of his three-point shots. Camden Bialas is at 5.8 points per game and Fykstra convers 5.3. Bialas is making 76 percent of his field goal attempts. Jansma has 38 made three-point shots while Bleeker and Coppock have 34 and 33.

The Defenders beat Doane on December 5 with Garrett Franken scoring 17 and grabbing 12 rebounds. Jansma scored 14 and Vis 11 while Doane was topped by Trey Winkler’s 17 point performance in a reserve role.

Dordt will travel to Northwestern on Wednesday night, January 27 at 8:00 pm.
