Dordt Men Roll In Win Over Dakota State

The Dordt Defenders never trailed in taking a 16-point win from Dakota State in non-conference men’s basketball Monday night, January 4 in Madison, South Dakota. Dordt scored the first eight points of the game and didn’t allow the hosts to get closer than eight for the final 30 minutes of the game in winning their fifth straight.

Dordt started the game with back to back three-point shots from Cade Bleeker and Garrett Franken and Jesse Jansma added a basket for the 8-0 lead. A Bryce Coppock three-point shot with 11:24 left in the half gave Dordt its first double-digit lead of the game and a 6-0 run over the final 1:22 of the half put Dordt up 57-41.

Dordt led by as many as 20 to start the second half but the hosts were eventually able to trim the lead back to 77-69 with 6:06 remaining in the game. A pair of Cade Bleeker free throws and a three-point shot by Garrett Franken extended the lead back to double figures and Dordt won by the 92-76 final.

Dordt is 12-4 while Dakota State slides to 2-7.

Dordt will host Mount Marty on Saturday, January 9.
