Dordt Men Welcome Mount Marty Saturday

Dordt will host Mount Marty in GPAC men’s basketball on Saturday, January 9 at 4:00 pm.

Mount Marty is 7-9 this season and 4-7 in the GPAC and the Lancers are 1-5 in their last six games. The Lancers also had a four game winning streak from November 24-December 5. The Lancer wins in league play are over Midland, Doane (twice) and Jamestown.

Jailen Billings tops the Lancers with a 15.0 points per game average off the bench and Elijah Pappas scores 14.2 points per game with 6.9 rebounds. Chad Moran has an 11.4 points per game average but hasn’t played since Dordt’s win over the Lancers before Christmas. Allen Wilson has a 7.5 points per game average and Kade Stearns adds 6.3.

The Defender men are 12-4 overall and 8-4 in the GPAC and takes a five-game winning streak into the game against the Lancers and has won six of its last seven.

Dordt converts 50.9 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 83.2-75.1 and outrebound teams 37.9-33.7. Opponents make 43.8 percent of their field goals and the Defenders have converted 125 three-point shots.

Garrett Franken scores 15.9 points per game with 7.5 rebounds and he hands out 2.9 assists per game while making 50 percent of his field goals. Jesse Jansma scores 15.9 points per game with a team high 4.0 assists per game and he is making 49 percent of his field goals. Jacob Vis is scoring 12.3 points per game with 6.3 rebounds and he is making 67.6 percent of his field goal tries and has a team high 17 blocked shots. Cade Bleeker adds 11.4 points per game and Bryce Coppock is averaging 8.1. Dejay Fykstra is converting 5.6 points per game and he makes 70 percent of his field goals while Ben Gesink is averaging 5.4 points per game. Jansma has made 28 three-point shots while Bleeker and Coppock have 26 and 24 respectively.

Dordt will host Jamestown on Thursday, January 14 in GPAC play before traveling to Hastings on Saturday, January 16.
