Dordt Men’s Basketball Runs Away From Valley City State Behind 30 By Coppock

Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defenders used a 14-0 run spanning the end of the first and the start of the second half to secure a 104-74 win over Valley City State in non-conference basketball Saturday night in Sioux Center.

The Defenders used a strong transition game to go from down 11-6 to up 15-11 with a pair of Cade Bleeker free throws ending the run. Dordt first double digit lead came when Bryce Coppock converted a layup with 5:28 left in the first half for a 35-24 lead and by the time the three minute drought as over for the Vikings Dordt had built a 42-24 lead with Jackson Louscher converting tow free throws. A Coppock three-point shot capped the first half scoring and put Dordt up 52-34.

Two baskets by Coppock and two by Cade Bleeker to start the second half ballooned the lead to 61-34 and Jacob Vis had a three-point play to make it a 30 point difference. The Vikings cut the lead down to 17 but got no closer and Dordt rolled to the 104-74 win.

Dordt was 39-64 from the field for 61 percent percent success and Dordt was 7-23 from the field.

Valley City State converted 27-70 from the floor for 39 percent and 13-29 three-point shots for 45 percent.

Dordt maintained a 51-23 rebounding edge.

Bryce Coppock had a career high 30 points and was 11-15 from the field with five rebounds and three assists.

Jacob Vis was good for 19 points and 12 rebounds on 8-8 field goal shooting with five blocks.

Cade Bleeker had 16 points and four rebounds.

Camden Bialas had eight points and Luke Rankin had eight assists and seven rebounds.

Dordt will face Dakota State on Tuesday, November 2 in their next action of the season.
