Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt University holds its spot in the final NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ poll released Tuesday by the national office.
The Defenders are 13th in the Nov.8 edition of the national poll, owning the same spot for the sixth straight week. Dordt is the only team from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) recognized in the final poll.
St.Francis (Ill.) closes the regular season ranked first and earning 20 of the 21 possible first place votes. Saint Mary (Kan.), Milligan (Tenn.), Taylor (Ind.) and Indiana Wesleyan round out the top five.
Dordt won its fourth straight conference title with a record-setting performance last weekend at Landsmeer Golf Club. The Defenders finished with a perfect score of 15pts, establishing the record for lowest point total at the conference meet. Davis Tebben won the individual championship and nine Dordt runners claimed all-conference honors with a top 15 finish.
The Defenders qualified for the NAIA National Championship that will take place on Friday, Nov.19 at Fort Vancouver National Historic site in Vancouver, Wash.
