Dordt Men’s Cross Country Ranked In Top 20

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt University is ranked 13th in this week’s edition of the NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ poll released Thursday by the national office.

The Defenders held the same spot for the fourth consecutive poll and continue to be the only team from the GPAC recognized in the national rating.

Indiana Wesleyan earned 13 first place votes and totaled 518 points as the top-rated team. The Wildcats edged No.2 Saint Mary (Kan.), who totaled four first place votes and 515 points. St.Francis (Ill.), Milligan (Tenn.) and Taylor (Ind.) round out the top five.

Dordt won its home meet last weekend and had seven runners finish among the top 10. Jacob Vander Plaats was the runner-up and ran a personal best 8K time of 25:17 to earn GPAC Runner of the Week honors.

The Defenders will next compete at the Mount Marty Invite on Saturday, Oct. 23 in Yankton, S.D.
