Sioux Center Iowa — The Dordt College Defender volleyball team is ranked no. 8 in the final NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll of the 2016 season. The poll is the last one before the NAIA National Championship gets underway on Saturday, November 19.
The Defenders are tied with Grand View (Iowa) at no. 8 with 427 points in the voting and concluded the season with a 22-7 mark. Dordt advanced to the GPAC semifinals before being eliminated from the GPAC field.
Since the last rating two weeks ago the Defenders posted a 3-1 mark with a win over then no. 2 Hastings and a loss to then no. 5 Midland.
The Defenders are one of four GPAC teams in the top-25 and all received byes to the final site and pool play of the NAIA Championship Final Site in Sioux City November 29-December 1. Hastings and Midland are no. 3 and no. 5 respectively and Doane is no. 15. Northwestern was in the receiving votes category.
