Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for Sept. 14-20, 2020. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2020-2021 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Women – Taylor Anema, Dordt University
Taylor Anema of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Anema, a freshman from Ripon, California, led the Defenders to a second-place team finish (top NAIA team at the meet). She covered the 5k course in a time of 18:30, finishing fifth overall and was the top NAIA finisher at the Morningside Invite which featured 103 runners.
Men – Eric Steiger, Dordt University
Eric Steiger of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Steiger, a junior from Lynden, Washington, was the top NAIA finisher with a time of 25:31 at the Morningside Invite. He helped the Defenders to a second-place finish overall and the top NAIA finish at the race with 40 points.
