Dordt Volleyball Opens GPAC Play Tonight

Dordt will open the 2020 GPAC season on Wednesday, September 9 against Dakota Wesleyan. The junior varsity match will start at 6:00 and the varsity will play at 7:30 pm.

Dakota Wesleyan is 3-0 after a pair of wins over the weekend against Mayville State and Valley City State in matches played in Valley City, North Dakota and a win over Presentation in Aberdeen on Tuesday night.

The Tigers take a .230 kill efficiency into the GPAC match and average 12.5 kills per set while allowing 10.0. The Tigers also get 2.13 points per set from blocks and 1.63 points per set from ace serves. Teams are getting 1.5 points per set on blocks and just under a point per set on ace serves.

Mariah Gloe and Mackenzie Miller are averaging 3.63 and 3.57 kills per set and are hitting for a .338 and .328 kill efficiency. Madeline Else runs the offense and is averaging 11.38 assists per set and she leads the team with four ace serves and she is getting to 5.0 digs per set. Hanna Reiff has a team high 6.75 digs per set average and Ady Dwiight is the top blocker with a 1.13 average while McKenzie Busiker has a 1.0 blocks per set average.

The Defenders are 1-0 after a win over Northwestern (Minnesota) on Saturday, September 5. By set scores of 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 26-24. Dordt has a team kill efficiency of .172 and get 3.25 points per set on blocks. The Defenders are also putting two ace serves per set in.

Jessi De Jager averages 2.5 kills per set with a .409 kill efficiency and Karsyn Winterfeld is at 2.0. Ava Van Soelen, Brenna Krommendyk and Alli Timmermans all average 1.5 kills per set. Megan Raszler and Corina Beimers average 4.75 and 3.5 assists per set and Hannah Connelly gets to 4.25 digs per outing. Karsyn Winterfeld is second on the team in digs with 3.0. Corrina Timmermans has six service aces to lead the team and she also accounts for 2.5 digs. Krommendyk, Winterfeld and De Jager are all averaging a block or more per set.

Dordt is scheduled to host Morningside on Saturday, September 12 in a match rescheduled from October. The Defenders will be on the road the following week against Northwestern on Tuesday, September 15.
