Dordt Volleyball To Host Morningside Wednesday

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt will host Morningside in junior varsity and varsity volleyball this Wednesday night, October 6 starting at 6:00 with the JV match followed by the varsity match at about 7:30.

The Mustangs are 10-13 this season and are 1-7 in league play. The Mustangs are 2-4 since September 18 and have lost back to back conference matches most recently to Briar Cliff and Dakota Wesleyan.

The Mustangs average 11.7 kills per set with a .160 kill efficiency and opponents get 12.2 kills per set with a .181 kill efficiency. Morningside has a slight 135-124 ace serves edge on foes this season but are allowing 1.76 points per set on blocks while generating 1.56 points off of blocks.

The Defenders are 10-5 this season and 2-4 in GPAC play. Corrina Timmermans has a 3.7 kills per set average to go with 2.4 digs and she is tops on the team with 22 ace serves. Jessi Franken adds 2.7 kills and Brenna Krommendyk has a 2.5 kills per set average with a .335 kill efficiency to go with 1.29 blocks per outing. Alli Timmermans adds 2.27 kills with a .281 kill efficiency and Grace Langemeier adds 1.5. Megan Raszler puts up 5.6 assists per outing and Campbell Marshall adds 4.68. Erica Bousema is the leading digger with a 5.6 average and Mia Gamet and Makenna Kooima are good for 2.53 and 2.49 respectively.

The Defenders are averaging 12.4 kills per set while allowing 12.3. Dordt’s service advantage for the season is 72-55 and the Defenders get 2.18 points per set on blocks while allowing 1.68.

Dordt opened the season against Morningside on August 25 and secured a 25-17, 25-16, 25-22 win. Franken had 12 kills and Corrina Timmermans and Krommendyk both had 10 kills. Raszler lofted 22 assists and Bousema had 29 digs in the win. Morningside was paced by Marlow and Rolls with six kills each and Smith had 16 assists. Dordt leads the series 34-19 dating back to 1986.
