Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt University women’s cross country team holds its spot in the final NAIA Coaches’ poll released Tuesday by the national office.
The Defenders are 14th in the Nov.8 edition of the national poll, holding the same spot for the fourth straight week. Dordt is the highest of the three GPAC teams recognized in the final poll (Hastings – 24, Morningside – RV).
The top seven teams were unchanged from the previous rating, led by St.Francis (Ill.) who is the NAIA’s top-ranked team and earned all 21 first place votes. Milligan (Tenn.) is second, followed by Cornerstone (Mich.), Taylor (Ind.) and Saint Mary (Kan.).
Dordt won its second consecutive GPAC Championship, its eighth in the last 10 years, last weekend. The Defenders totaled 54 points and had four runners finish among the top 15.
The Defenders qualified for the NAIA National Championship that will take place on Friday, Nov.19 at Fort Vancouver National Historic site in Vancouver, Wash.
