Dordt Women’s Soccer Gets Commitment From Alons

Orange City, Iowa — Emily Alons, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.

“We are very excited for Emily to be joining our program in August. Emily has a tremendous work ethic and is hustler on the field. She is an individual who is determined to grow in her game and invest into her teammates. Those two things make her a great addition to the 2021 recruiting class,” said Dordt soccer coach Alex Durbin.

Alons earned second-team all-conference honors two years ago and last season was wiped out due to COVID. A starter since her freshman season, Alons has four goals and an assist and has served as team captain during two seasons. She’s played striker and attacking midfield. She had seven goals and 20 assists during her sophomore season.

“I chose Dordt because of the Christian environment and great social work program. I also really enjoyed the soccer program and the positive atmosphere created by the team,” said Alons.

Emily is he daughter of Jason and Michelle Alons. She plans to study Social Work at Dordt.
