Des Moines, Iowa – Drake will clinch a second straight Pioneer Football League title and a trip to the FCS playoffs with a win at home on Saturday against Morehead State. Bulldog coach Todd Stepsis says it would be a fitting way to celebrate Senior Day for a class that joined the program when times were tough.
Special teams have put Drake on the doorstep of another championship and in particular field goals. The Bulldogs rank third in the nation in FCS with five blocked field goals and kicker Shane Dunning ranks second in the country with 17 field goals in 21 attempts.
Stepsis says special teams have been involved in several game changing plays this season.
Stepsis says Morehead State will be a tough out. The Eagles’ are 4-2 in the PFL and their title hopes took a hot last week with a loss to Davidson.
