Drake Wins OT Thriller At UNI To Claim Share Of MVC title

Drake has clinched a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title. Bennett Stirtz scored 26 points and the Bulldogs outscored UNI 9-1 to close overtime and claimed a thrilling 64-58 victory in the McLeod Center. Drake improves to 15-3 in the Valley.

That’s Drake coach Ben McCollum. Drake outrebounded UNI 46-29 and had 16 offensive rebounds.

Stirtz finished five-of-nine from three point range and his three with 16 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Bulldogs a six point lead.

UNI was held to three points in overtime.

That’s UNI coach Ben Jacobson. The Panthers had their six-game win streak snapped as they fall to 13-5 in the Valley.

Tytan Anderson led the Panthers with 21 points but he fouled out with 3:20 remaining in overtime when he was whistled for a double foul along with Drake’s Isaia Howard.

Anderson says rebounding was a huge factor in the outcome.

Anderson says it was a disappointing finish in front of a large crowd.
