Abby Dykstra, a senior at Unity Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.
Dykstra was a part of four state meet qualifying cross country teams while at Unity and also qualified for the 2018 Iowa High School All-Star Cross Country Meet. She has a personal best of 21:04 on a 5,000 meter cross country course. She ran a 2:47 in the 800 meters last season; a 5:51 in the 1,500 meters and 12:57 in the 3,000 meters. Dykstra was a part of four conference title winning cross country teams.
“I am excited to have Abby join our program. She is a tough competitor who has continued to improve every year running for Coach Kauk at Unity Christian. I believe her best running is in front of her and I am excited to be able to work with her for the next four years. She is a strong student and will be a great addition to our team and Dordt’s campus,” said Dordt cross country coach Nate Wolf.
Abby is the daughter of Wayne and Sue Dykstra of Orange City, Iowa. She plans to study Nursing at Dordt.
