E-LC And Western Split Conference Doubleheader

Estherville, Iowa — Estherville-Lincoln Central and Western Christian split a Lakes Conference doubleheader Tuesday night in Estherville. The Midgets won the girls game 52-25, and Western won the boys game 72-44.

ELC started the girls game off with a 6-0 run and after one, had a 10-4 lead. The Midgets started the second quarter off with an 8-0 run and had a 25-7 lead heading into the half. After a 9-0 ELC run to start the second half, Estherville-Lincoln Central had a 39-13 lead heading into the fourth, and went on to win 52-25.

ELC had 3 players in double figures. Kaitlyn Tendal had a game high 14 points, Jordyn Stokes put in 13, and Jadan Nitchals added 11. Western got a team high 6 points from Sienna Moss, Madison Vis, and Claire Bleeker.

With the win ELC improves to 12-2 on the year and 5-1 in the Lakes. Western falls to 3-12 on the season and 1-5 in the conference.

The Western boys were in control from start to finish. After one, the Wolfpack had 16-6 lead. At half the lead was 35-16. After three it was 52-28, and Western went on to win 72-44.

Western got a game high 14 from Ty Van Essen. Wyatt Gulker and Eli Van Essen each added 10 points. ELC got a team high 13 from Will Larson.

With the win Western improves to 11-3 on the season and 5-1 in the Lakes. The Midgets fall to 6-7 on the season and 1-5 in the conference.

Up next for Western is a home contest Friday night against Spencer. ELC will be on the road Friday to Emmetsburg.
