SIOUX CITY, Iowa – For the fourth time this season, junior goalkeeper Ezekiel Foltz (Sioux Center, Iowa/Sioux Center) has been given the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week nod, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Foltz recorded a .900 save percentage in the two-conference tournament matches this past week to guide the Raiders to the championship match for the first time since 2007. On the two matches, he notched nine saves, including six phenomenal saves to hold a high-powered Morningside attack to just one goal.
It’s been a season to remember for Foltz, recording 11 shutouts in his 19 games in goal for the Raiders. He holds a season save percentage of .874, tallying 75 saves on the year. He holds a record of 16-2-1.
The Raiders have already secured their spot in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) men’s soccer tournament, after winning the regular season crown with the head-to-head over co-champion Briar Cliff.
Northwestern will look to secure the program’s second-ever GPAC conference tournament title Thursday night when they play host to No. 3-seed Hastings in the tournament championship match from the NWC Soccer Complex, a repeat of the 2007 final.
