Sioux Center, IA — Dordt College’s Nathan Forseth (Senior; Sioux Center, Iowa) has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One First-Team Academic-All American Baseball Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Forseth batted .411 this season with a team high 41 runs batted in, 53 hits and 12 doubles. Forseth’s slugging percentage was .504 and he was the Dordt designated hitter most of the season. He started 39 of Dordt’s 40 games this season and scored 22 runs while taking 14 walks.
Forseth’s season ranks well in the history of Dordt baseball. His batting average is 11th all-time and his 53 hits are tied for 2nd most. His 41 runs batted in rank 2nd all-time and his 12 doubles are 3rd on the all-time list. His 2015 season was a bounce back year after being hampered by injury in 2014.
Forseth graduated Dordt in May with a degree in Business Administration. Forseth was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a Capital One Academic All-District 3 baseball player in May. He is Dordt’s first first-team honoree since Trevor Wolterstorff and Brianna Vander Woude earned the honors for basketball and track and field during the 2012-13 school year.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his institution and be nominated by his sports information director.
