GPAC Basketball For Defender Women In Hastings

Dordt will travel to Hastings in GPAC women’s basketball on Saturday, January 16 at 2:00 pm.

The Hastings Broncos are 5-10 this season and 4-9 in the conference with league wins over Jamestown, the College of Saint Mary and Doane (twice). Hastings stopped a three game losing skid with a win over Doane on Wednesday.

Hastings is getting outscored 73.1-67.7 and are getting outrebounded 39.6-34.8. Hastings converts 39.3 percent of its field goals and 32.1 percent of its three-point shots.

Dordt is 10-7 this season and 9-5 in the GPAC and has won five out of its last six and eight of its last ten games.

Dordt is outscoring teams 71.9-66.6 and outrebound teams 44.9-34.9. Dordt converts 39.8 percent of its field goals while allowing teams to make 38.2 percent. Dordt also has made 33.4 percent of its three-point shots while opponents have made 32.2 percent.

Ashtyn Veerbeek is scoring 14.5 points per game while grabbing 10.1 rebounds per contest and she is making 46 percent of her field goal attempts and she is averaging 2.2 assists. Erika Feenstra is good for 12.8 points per game and Bailey Beckman adds 12.8 points per game with Feenstra taking away 5.5 rebounds and Beckman has handed out 2.7 assists per game and she leads the team with 22 steals. Karly Gustafson adds 9.8 points per game and she makes 52 percent of her field goals and she takes in 6.2 rebounds. Mya Chmielewski and Bailey Tetzlaff add 5.4 and 5.1 points per game respectively. Tetzlaff has 19 steals and Jordyn Winterfeld has 16.

Dordt prevailed when these two met on December 14 by a 74-67 score. Veerbeek scored 28 and had 14 rebounds with five assists and Feenstra scored 19 with seven rebounds and three assists. Smith scored 26 for Hastings and Schmit added 16 while Natalia Dick added 10 in a reserve role.

Dordt will host Morningside on Wednesday night, January 20.
