Granstra To Play Volleyball At Northwestern

Olivia Granstra of Sheldon, Iowa, has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Northwestern College beginning in the fall of 2020.

Granstra is a 5’8″ setter who is in her fourth year playing for the Western Christian High School volleyball team. A four-year starter, Granstra earned second team all-state honors in leading the Wolfpack to the class 2A state championship last season as a junior. This season, Granstra ranks fourth in class 2A in assists per set (8.7) and averages four digs for a Western Christian team that holds the No.1 ranking with a 36-5 overall record. She is a three-time all-conference selection, including first team accolades the last two years, and is a three-time team captain. Granstra’s career stats are 2,230 assists, 980 digs, 106 blocks, 108 aces and 181 kills and she also played for the Wolfpack’s state championship team as a freshman. A member of the National Honor Society, Granstra plans to major in Nursing at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Darin and Lori.

“Olivia is a great athlete who has helped lead Western Christian to a pair of state titles and a state runner-up finish the last three years,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Kyle Van Den Bosch. “Olivia does so many things well on the court and her leadership and competitiveness are contagious with her teammates. We are excited to welcome Olivia to Northwestern College and our volleyball program.”
