Haley To Run For NWC

Emma Haley (Orange City, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next fall.

Haley has competed four years for the MOC-Floyd Valley High School cross country team and three years in track and field heading into her final season this spring. A state qualifier in cross country, Haley served as team captain as a senior. She earned all-conference honors all four years, finishing among the top 15 runners at the Siouxland Conference championship each season. Haley was the conference champion in 2018 and has a personal best 5K time of 19:53.

“We are so excited to have Emma join our women’s cross country and track and field teams,” commented head coach Scott Bahrke. “She is a very talented distance runner with a strong drive to improve each day. Emma is a wonderful teammate and will get along well with our current Raiders as well as other incoming freshmen.”

Haley is a member of both the honor roll and National Honor Society and plans to study Spanish Education at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Mike and Amanda De Groot.

“I chose Northwestern because I felt very at home among both team members and campus community,” stated Haley. “I am very excited about the opportunities that Northwestern offered both academically and athletically.”
