Heibult Signs With NWC Cross Country

Orange City, Iowa — Eric Heibult of Sheldon has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field career at Northwestern College next fall.

Heibult is a 6’1” distance runner who has competed in both cross country and track and field for Sheldon High School. A two-time state qualifier in cross country, Heibult finished fifth at state last fall and has a personal best time of 15:35 in the 5K. He earned all-conference two years, both as a junior and senior. In track, Heibult qualified for state as both as a sophomore and junior, finishing third as a member of the 4×800 relay last spring. Heibult was named both the Siouxland Athlete of the Week and Northwest Iowa Review Athlete of the Week and has personal best times of 4:48 in the mile and 10:30 in the 3200m. Heibult plans to major in Athletic Training at Northwestern and is the son of Doug and Deb.

“We are thrilled to have Eric join our men’s cross country and track and field teams next fall,” commented Northwestern head coach Scott Bahrke. “He is a very talented distance runner who will continue to improve throughout his career at NWC. Eric has high goals set and will be a great fit with our talented, hard-working group of young men.”
