Heimensen’s 23 Lifts Central Lyon Over Wolfpack

Rock Rapids, Iowa — Central Lyon advanced in the girls regional tournament after defeating Western Christian 58-52 in Rock Rapids Saturday night.

The Lions started the contest on a 10-0 run, but Western responded with a 7-0 run of their own, and after one, Central Lyon had a 10-7 lead. Central Lyon had a big second quarter and had a 30-15 lead at intermission. Western started the second half off with a 5-0 run, but Central Lyon came back with a 7-0 run and had a 43-36 lead heading into the final quarter. Central Lyon was able to hit some key free throws late and came away with the 58-52 win.

Central Lyon got a game high twenty-three from Hayden Heimensen, and ten points from both Regan Van Wyhe and Sutton Schlumbohm. Western Christian got a team high sixteen from Olivia Granstra, and eleven from Abby Postma.

With the win Central Lyon improves to 12-10 on the year and will play West Sioux on Tuesday at West Sioux. Western Christian ends their year at 10-12.
