Hurd To Play Basketball At Northwestern

Ryan Hurd of Cleghorn has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Northwestern College in the fall of 2020.

Hurd is a 6’6″ guard who has played three years for the Cherokee Washington High School basketball team heading into his senior season. Hurd averaged 16 points, three assists and led the Lakes Conference with nine rebounds per game in earning first team all-Lakes conference honors as a junior. He shot 48% from the field, better than 40% from beyond the arc and 76% from the free throw line. Named team captain three years, Hurd was an all-district and all substate selection in 2019 who also plays for the Martin Brothers AAU team. Hurd plans to major in Business Administration at Northwestern and is the son of Mark and Kerry.

“We are thrilled to receive a commitment from Ryan to join our Red Raider men’s basketball program,” stated Northwestern Head Coach Kris Korver. “Ryan is a long, athletic wing player with tremendous upside. He shoots well from the perimeter and can also attack the basket. Ryan’s size and skills make him a versatile player who is an outstanding rebounding guard. Ryan is a quality young man who is a great teammate and possess top-notch work ethic. We look forward to watching him improve and grow as a player during his Red Raider career.”
