Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz on new roster limits

Iowa City, Iowa – Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz says they began dealing with the new roster limit at the end of this past regular season.

Beginning with fall camp, FBS rosters are limited to 105 players but all of them can be on scholarship. The average roster size last season was 121.

Ferentz says they wanted to let players know early if they were not going to be guaranteed a roster spot instead of waiting to cut players at the end of spring practice.

Ferentz says there are a few players who will look for options after spring drills.

The Hawkeyes will conclude spring drills with a practice on April 26th.
