Jacks Host Delaware In FCS Semifinals

Brookings, South Dakota — A berth in the Football Championship Subdivision national title game will be on the line Saturday, when South Dakota State hosts Delaware in a semifinal playoff game.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Central Time at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Top-seeded South Dakota State enters the matchup with a 7-1 overall record and has won six consecutive games. The Jackrabbits have held serve at home thus far in the playoffs, defeating Holy Cross (31-3 on April 24) and Missouri Valley Football Conference rival Southern Illinois (31-26 on May 2).

SDSU is making its third appearance in the FCS semifinals in the last four seasons. The Jackrabbits dropped a 51-16 decision at James Madison in 2017, followed by a 44-21 setback at North Dakota State in 2018.

Delaware, which received the Colonial Athletic Association’s automatic bid into the 16-team playoff field, holds a 7-0 record this season, including playoff victories over Sacred Heart (19-10 on April 24) and fourth-seeded Jacksonville State (20-14 on May 2).

Saturday’s game marks the second meeting on the gridiron between SDSU and Delaware. The Blue Hens won the inaugural meeting in the series, 26-3, on Sept. 11, 2010, in Newark, Delaware.
