Kemble Matches Career High In Red Raider Win Over Doane

Devyn Kemble matched her career-high with 26 points and the Raiders stifled the Doane offense in a 73-39 road victory in conference action played this afternoon in Crete, Neb.

Northwestern picked up its fourth straight win and moved to 9-5 in the conference, 9-8 overall. Doane falls to 2-13 in the league, 4-14 overall.

For the second time in three games, Kemble drained six three-pointers, also matching a career-best, and recorded the third 20-plus point game of her career. The junior sharp-shooter converted 6-of-13 three point attempts and also tallied three steals. Molly Schany accounted for her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Northwestern closed the first quarter with an 11-2 run to take a 15-6 lead. Both teams struggled from the field in the opening frame with the Raiders at 29% compared to 15% for Doane.

Leading by 10 (18-8), Northwestern outscored the Tigers 13-1 where the Raiders held the hosts without a field goal for over six minutes to take a commanding 31-9 lead after a three-pointer from Kemble with 2:17 left in the half. Northwestern le 32-14 at the half.

Another 11-2 run at the end of the third quarter pushed the Raider lead to 54-24. Kemble scored the final seven points for Northwestern in the period; the Raider led by at least 30 points for the duration of the contest.

Northwestern shot 43% for the game, 38% (12/32) from the three-point line, and used a substantial 44-29 edge on the boards. Defensively, the Raiders forced 26 Doane turnovers and limited the Tigers to a mere 24% from the floor. Both Sammy Blum and Jazy Prins knocked down a pair of three-pointers and Blum dished out four assists.

Haylee Heits was the lone Doane player to score in double figures with 10; Heits and teammate Azallee Johnson pulled down seven rebounds.
