Ames, Iowa – Kyle Konrardy’s game-winning 54-yard field goal against No. 21 Iowa has been named the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week.
Now in its second season, the award celebrates incredible athleticism, awe-inspiring strategy, and jaw-dropping “did you see that?” moments from across the college football landscape each week.
A redshirt freshman walk-on kicker from Dubuque, Konrardy nailed a 54-yard field goal with six seconds remaining to cap a 20-19 comeback win at Iowa. The Cyclones trailed 13-0 at the half and 19-7 with 4:47 left in the third quarter. Konrardy, who missed a 41-yard attempt on the first half’s final play, was instrumental in the comeback, adding a 46-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.
Konrardy, who attempted the first three field goals of his career on Saturday, is raising money for Count the Kicks, a life-saving stillbirth prevention campaign of the nonprofit organization Healthy Birth Day, Inc. Count the Kicks teaches expecting parents about the importance of tracking their baby’s movements (and kicks!).
To celebrate the honor, Konrardy and the Cyclones will receive a care package of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries.
