Rock Rapids Iowa — CJ Roths scored a pair of touchdowns and went over a thousand yards on the season as Central Lyon George Little Rock wrapped up the regular season with a 47-12 home win over Sheldon. The Lions will take a 5-4 record into the post season having gone 4-2 in the district.
After Roth’s first touchdown Austin DeNoble returned an interception 82 yard for a score to put the Lions up 14-0.
Sheldon answered with a big play of their own as Jake Roos returned a fumble 94 yards for a score to pull the Orabs within 14-6.
A 49 yard pass play from Pete Menage to Cade Knobloch and a 2 yard touchdown run from CJ Roths put the Lions in front 28-6 at the half.
The Lions started the second half with an electric play as Mitch Van Beek returned the opening kick off 86 yards for a score to make it 34-6.
Sheldon answered with a 70 yard drive that ended with a 12 yard touchdown pass from Jaden Kleinhesselink to Phillip Cain that cut the lead to 34-12.
The Lions scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter to finish the scoring. The first was a 62 yard hook and ladder with Menage completing a short pass to Riley Van Wyhe who lateraled to Mitch Van Beek who went the rest of the way for the score. The final touchdown came on a 4 yard run by Jaydon Baker to make the final score 47-12.
The first round of the playoffs will be on Wednesday of next week.
