Des Moines, Iowa — The merry go round at quarterback continues at Drake.
True freshman Blake Ellingson gets the start on Saturday when the Bulldogs visit Butler. Sophomore Luke Bailey is sidelined with a shoulder injury he suffered in last week’s heart breaking loss to Valparaiso. Bailey was filling in for junior Ian Corwin, who was injured in a week two loss at Montana State.
That’s Drake coach Todd Stepsis, who says the Bulldogs are resisting the urge to feel snake bit.
Stepsis says they are developing a game plan that fits Eilingson’s strengths.
With two quarterbacks out with injury Stepsis says they are getting thin at that spot.
Drake is 1-3. Butler is 2-2.
