Sioux Center, Iowa — Whitney Minderhoud, a senior at Western Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and cross country programs.
Minderhoud has personal bests of 2:24 in the 800 meters, 5:04 in the 1500 meters and 11:14 in the 3000 meters. Her personal best on a 5,000 meter cross country course is 20:02.
“I am excited to have Whitney join our program. She is a talented runner that fits our women’s program well. She has a strong work ethic and competes fiercely. She has experienced success in both track and cross country at Western Christian and that success will position her well coming into college racing. I look forward to working with her as well as her immediate impact in our program,” said cross country head coach and assistant track and field coach Nate Wolf.
She’s qualified four times for the state cross country meet and has participated in the 1500 meters, 3000 meters, 4×800 and distance medley at the state track and field meet. She was a part of a fourth place finishing team in the 4×800 and fourth place in the medley relay.
“I chose Dordt because I have a lot of teammates that now run for Dordt and it will be nice to run with them again. I have also heard many good things about the program from some of the runners. The coaches have shown a lot of interest in me and I am very thankful for what they have done for me,” said Minderhoud.
Whitney is the daughter of Anthony and Wendi Minderhoud of Sanborn, Iowa. She plans to study Elementary Education at Dordt.
