Mitch Peschon and Skyler Wheeler Named All GPAC Baseball First Teamers

Northwestern College logoOrange City Iowa — Northwestern seniors Mitch Peschon and Skyler Wheeler both earned All-GPAC First Team baseball honors along with GPAC Gold Gloves for their performances during the 2015 season. Grant Lang earned Second Team All-GPAC honors and five Raiders were named honorable mention.

Mitch Peschon from Spirit Lake hit .360 this season with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, 51 RBI and scored 65 runs. Peschon also won four games on the mound with four saves for the Red Raiders. Peschon’s 65 runs scored this season trail only Steve Englund’s 70 in 2010.

Peschon was a 2014 First Team All-GPAC Outfielder, the 2014 GPAC Player of the Year, a 2014 NAIA All-American Second Team Outfielder, and a 2015 NAIA Preseason All-American Outfielder.

Wheeler led NWC hitting .378 this season with 15 doubles, six home runs, 48 RBI, and 76 hits. his 76 hits are third all time for the Red Raiders.

Lang hit .364 as a freshman with ten doubles and 36 RBI from the catcher position. Lang threw out 12 base stealers from the catcher position.

Casey Guthmiller from Orange City along with Zach Cortese, Sean Geelan, Fernando Gutierrez, and Christian Hamett all earned honorable mention GPAC honors.
