Sioux City, Iowa — Boyden Hull Rock Valley finished off a perfect regular season Friday night at Memorial Field in Sioux City against the winless Heelan Crusaders 48-9.
The Nighthawks started off quick and scored on their first 6 possessions including 34 points in the first quarter en route to the victory. The first possession of the game the Nighthawks scored on a 52 yard 3 play drive finished off with a 3 yard TD run by Lane Schmidt. They followed that with a 2 play drive after forcing a fumble and Landyn Van Kekerix scored on an 8 yard reception from Tanner Te Slaa. After a 20 yard Heelan Crusader field goal, Cade Fisher would score on a 4 yard run. Landyn Van Kekerix would find pay dirt again with a 67 yard touchdown run, and Caleb Kats would add a 7 yard run to make the score 34-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The Nighthawks would add two more scores in the 2nd quarter. The first was on a Sam Remmerde 6 yard reception from Tanner Te Slaa. And the second would come on a scoop and score after Quinn Olson was sacked and fumbled into the waiting arms of Lane Schmidt. He would take the ball 25 yards into the end zone. With 7:48 to go in the first half the Nighthawks were leading 48-3.
The Nighthawks would get valuable experience the rest of the game for reserve players, in the middle of the 4th quarter Heelan would score their first touchdown of the game to make the final score 48-9.
Boyden Hull Rock Valley hosts a playoff game next week against a team that will be assigned on Saturday morning. Heelan will end the season winless.
