Orange City — The Northwestern College football team added six recruits on a busy National Signing Day for head coach Kyle Achterhoff and his coaching staff. The 2014 recruit class now totals 14, with eight players already committing to Northwestern.Three of the six have ties to the KIWA listening area.
Tyler Schuck (Marcus, Iowa) is a 6’1”, 275-pound offensive/defensive lineman who played three years for Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School. Schuck earned second team all-state and first team all-district honors after leading his team to a state semifinal berth and a 10-3 overall record.
Austin Rhodes (Sioux Center, Iowa) is a 5’8”, 190-pound linebacker and offensive lineman who played three years for Sioux Center High School. Rhodes was part of an offensive line that paved the way for one of the top offenses in the state, totaling 4,956 yards and 55 touchdowns.
Also with ties to northwest iowa is Austin Van Veldhuizen (Ontario, Calif.) he’s a 6’5”, 225-pound offensive/defensive lineman who played three years for Ontario Christian.
